ST IGNATIUS' RIVERVIEW have assured themselves of at least a joint GPS title with a stunning 29-20 home victory over arch rivals St Joseph's College yesterday.

Making the victory even sweeter was the reunion of Riverview's old boys, a point coach Adam Kelly was quick to highlight: "It's a buzz, it lifts the spirits around the school, the young kids love it and the old boys had a great time, as we saw here today."

Kelly was delighted with his side's efforts, particularly against arch rivals St Joseph's.

"We come close a lot with this mob, we have come away pretty disappointed at times so we were really happy with what happened today."

Joeys five-eighth Liam Walker opened the scoring with a penalty goal from his second attempt at the 13th minute, giving the visitors a 3-0 lead. But from there Iggys dominated the first half, with tries to centre Mark Watson in the 22nd minute and prop Luke White in the 26th minute combining with a penalty goal to give the side a 17-3 lead at the break.

Tries to winger Stephen Brandon and centre Joshua Toole brought Joeys back to 17-15. But halfback Angus Roberts and back rower Michael Dempsey crossed to give Iggys a 29-15 lead before a late Joeys try to David Hickey.

In yesterday's other crucial match, King's beat Shore 37-17.
